Tour of Somerville 5/27 - By Dave Casale

Memorial day weekend in the Delaware valley brings a few standard things along with it; hot dogs and hamburgers on the barbeque, the first time that the mercury usual peaks passed 90°F, the unofficial start of summer, and for cyclists in the area it means Somerville.

I am very excited to announce that TSV is promoting more amatuer racing in Philadelphia. The Philadephia Naval Yard Criterium will be held on Sunday, April 10th at the Philadelphia Naval Yard.

This Sunday (9/13/09) the Tri-State Velo 55+ team gave our field at the Yuasa Criterium a good lesson in negative racing. This form of racing is not the first thing you think of when you envision a bicycle race. It is relatively slow. All breakaway attempts are brought back and the field is kept together for the final dash to the finish.

Winning off the Front with Limited Talents

First; although I have decent fitness, I was a lot more fit earlier in the year, so that had little to do with the win.

The trick here is that before and during the race I was watching a number of conditions and riders very closely.  I also counted on my team mates to make quick and logical decisions during the race ... and they did, perfectly.

2008 Allentown Sportsfest Results

We thank everyone that came out to support the race on Sunday. Although some fields were a little light in numbers, the racing was still very exciting and aggressive. I would like to send a special thanks to Gary Lakatosh, who does great job promoting and running the event, Dave Miller from the Big Guy Group for sound and results and all the USAC officials who ran a great event.
