Nick Roeder's Race Journal

Tuesday was the first stage of the Tour De l'Abitibi, 118KM, 3KOH, 4 Sprints. was in a short lived brake and tried to make a couple more but with no success, entering the circuit a brake went and stayed away. coming in to the last turn 300m togo i was 8 in line and with 200m togo the guy two people in front of me went down and i got around but 8 guys up the road and having to slow down around the crash i ended up with a field finish 51 July 20 at 11:32am

Stage #3, 12.4km ITT- I woke up still not felling good but nothing I can do but eat, stretch, and ride to the start line, I got there and put my bike on the UCI jig and lined up for my start 1min before my start time (cutting it a little close), I started in my bigest gear Because i forgot to shift after roll-out (good thing I ride th...e track and know how to start in massive gears), so im out on corse and feel like I am flying till I hit the firth little bumb that just makes my lags hert and now dont feel like im flying anymore overall I thought I did a good time to put me in the 30's maybe 20's but I guess the hills hert a little more then i thought and I placed 77th a little less the 2 minutes off the winner I started in my bigest gear Because i forgot to shift after roll-out (good thing I ride th...e track and know how to start in massive gears), so im out on corse and feel like I am flying till I hit the firth little bumb that just makes my lags hert and now dont feel like im flying anymore overall I thought I did a good time to put me in the 30's maybe 20's but I guess the hills hert a little more then i thought and I placed 77th a little less the 2 minutes off the winner July 28 at 5:54pm

Big sorry for the big delay between stage reports the highschool that we were staying in for the week of racing had wifi for the first few days and then started having problems ether would not have any or would be really really slow, talking 5min to load a page. so stage #2 was 108km my legs were really sore the first day and second d...ay but I just try to ignore them so I tried breakingaway again, a few times but with no success, the day came down to a field sprint I was second place through the last turn 300m to go uphill I thought I could get it till I stood up to sprint and my legs cramped and all I could do is just make it up the hill and finish 87th with no time gap but still moving back 85 spots in 300m didn't make me fell any more confident July 28 at 5:37pm

stage #4 a 53km out and back, legs finally feel good again I dont know what I did but glade I did it because I feel good again I just wish it would have happend before the TT but oh well. with in the first 3km it started raining and not like 'oh no im going to get wet, rain' or 'its raining pretty hard we should stop and let it pass f...or our safty' no no, i wish, but it was more like ' its ranining so hard i cant see infact I can see better if I close my eyes, and breathing was hard too imagine drinking a glass of dirty gritty water and inhalingat at the same time and it is coming down so hard and we are going 50kph it hurts and then while you are doing 50kph with your eyes closed tring not to inhale to mush grit and water a thought comes to mind "oh no I am in a field of 140 sketchy junors racing" so you open your eyes and see a USA national ride slip off the road down a 6ft drop, rain' July 28 at 6:40pm

More to stage #4
so I went off the front to save my self and 10 minutes later the rain stoped and it was a normal race from there till 4km to go and big crash happend starting from the right side of the road to the left where i got pinched out in to the graval, made it back on the road chased back on, jumped over a-round-about an...d started leading out my team mate, going in to the first turn we were cought behind another crash, then got back on moveing up the right side going around the last turn a mexican rider who was off the front by maybe 2sec went straght and miss the turn we dont know why but thought it was funny but I was moving up pretty good after getting cought behind to crashes, i swong off with 150m to go, in not such a good spot but the best I could do considering, he got 10th and I got 39th just shows how fast we are going, if you coast for 150m you move back about 30 spots See More July 28 at 6:40pm

Stage #5 the longest stage 120km whitch is the max distance JR are aloud to race but it was neutral for 7km so really we rode 127km, it was very fast with a cross-tail wind and had a vary hard hill in it, the race is what made the climbs hard though going over it al 60kph for some reason, it was a boring race other wise I just sat in the front at the finish and got 31st July 28 at 9:02pm Nick Roeder Nick Roeder Stage #6 was a fast and technical 99km circuit race, that day alone 13 people got dropped and a lot off the back, coming in to the last few K I was at the front blocking for Ben Wolfe who was off the front and he got cought in the last 500m and i got pushed back in the 2nd to last turn and i ended up in 14th which is ok July 28 at 9:49pm Nick Roeder stage #7 was a 93km, easyer day I tried for a few breaks again but still no luck I make it to the last lap and thought I had a flat and went to the back to check it and get a new wheel but I got to the back and saw the tire was fine and it was just the stuff that they fill the cracks in the road with that I was slipping on so alot of elbows and headbuts later I got to the front but too tired to sprint I ended up 18th July 28 at 10:16pm
