As Tri-State Velo starts its 14th year we would like to profile Dana Feiss and Graham Coy, two young athletes that have the fire and desire to make the "big time" of professional cycling.
In this time of drug controversies and scandals it is refreshing to see athleticism at its finest. We are proud to introduce our best young talent for 2008 and hopefully beyond.
We thank our great sponsors and team and club members who support what we started 14 years ago and still believe in.
Dana Feiss
How I got started racing: After growing up riding road and mountain bikes and doing local events such as the Univest Grand Prix, I did an Air Products track cycling clinic and fell in love with the track. In the summer of 2006 I started racing as a junior and moved up to elite racing in 2007. I’m a tried-and-true track sprinter, but I like to do some crits here and there as well. I have my goals set on racing internationally and I’m gearing up for many seasons as an elite woman rider.
Racing Highlights:
Favorite Race: Match sprint and keirin
Funniest Race Experience: I crashed in my first elite keirin race and was run over by my coach (who happened to be placed in the same heat). It’s funny for me to look back on it now; at the time it just hurt a lot.
Toughest Race: 1-mile record attempt at the Trexlertown Velodrome.
Favorite Food: Mom’s apple pie or anything Thai. Hey, that even rhymes!
Favorite Beverage: Thai iced tea
Favorite TV Show: Lost; The Office
Favorite Movie: Zoolander (Ben Stiller KILLS me!) and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Hobbies: Telemark and cross country skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, drawing and painting, and riding (of course).
Favorite Saying/Motto: “The greatest glory lies not in never falling, but rising every time you fall.” ~ Nelson Mandela
Graham Coy:
